The Relevance of Aum.

Om. The purest symbol in Vedanta.
The symbol AUM is made up of three elements: A, U & M.

  • A is the root sound, produced from the back of the throat starting from one's stomach
  • M is the final sound produced by closing the lips.
  • U is the sound in between that reverberates through one's mouth.

As one pronounces Om, one touches all the relative points of the mouth as the word is recited. Hence, it is also considered Sabda Brahman.
