The First Disclaimer

Everything I post on this blog will be based on my reading from the books published by The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture. My intention is neither to plagiarize nor manipulate the holy scriptures or claim this text to be my own interpretations. I am not here to preach or proclaim my religion to be superior. I am posting parts of my research that I have realized to be profound and most intriguing. I truly believe that every human being has an interest in understanding and realizing his purpose on this planet. For the followers of Sanatana Dharma, Vedanta offers a variety of books and texts based on centuries of scholarly research and findings of holymen.

For the first set of posts, please be advised that all text has been absorbed from the Mandukya Upanishad interpreted by Sankaracarya and translated by Swami Lokeswarananda in his weekly discourses.

The book has been published by
Swami Prabhananda, Secretary

The Relevance of Aum.

Om. The purest symbol in Vedanta.
The symbol AUM is made up of three elements: A, U & M.

  • A is the root sound, produced from the back of the throat starting from one's stomach
  • M is the final sound produced by closing the lips.
  • U is the sound in between that reverberates through one's mouth.

As one pronounces Om, one touches all the relative points of the mouth as the word is recited. Hence, it is also considered Sabda Brahman.

Why?

What started off as a casual discussion has transformed my quest into a crusade of sorts. But this crusade is to satiate a personal vendetta harbored over complete lack of answers from men who claim to represent a medium. Every human being claims his path to be the most noble and sanctimonious. Vedanta says it doesn't matter what path you choose. The destination's all that matters. I can't help but agree. Let's give this some thought.
